Paul Kenny was born in 1960 in Lisburn, Co. Antrim. He attended Belfast University School of Art and The Slade School of Painting in London. He now lives and works in Kent and continues to be inspired by the landscapes and seascapes of the surrounding countryside and coastline, as well as those encountered on his travels.
Paul’s work first received public acclaim when the renowned art critic Brian Sewell centred upon it for a piece in The Mail on Sunday magazine. Following this, Paul had major exhibitions in London, Dublin, and Belfast and has been commissioned by many corporate clients and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. His work has attracted considerable attention from the art establishment with critic Mary-Rose Beaumont commenting on ‘the two constants in the work of Paul Kenny - light and water’.
Paul confesses himself that he is like a moth attracted to light, a truth he hopes is self-evident in the colours that he looks to infuse and diffuse across the canvases and in the watercolours.
